Rylan Olsen

Rylan Olsen knew all about the business lifestyle from an early age.

Born in Cardston, Alberta, as the youngest of four children, he was always fascinated by his father’s work in the dental industry and his lifestyle. To this day, Rylan still considers his dad his biggest inspiration. Growing up, he played several sports including basketball, football, baseball, and softball throughout school. He started working at a young age as a construction worker in his hometown. Later, he used his natural business skills to start a profitable business washing windows.

Using the income made, he paid his own way through school. He started taking some core courses at Lethbridge College then went on to MacEwan University where he originally was going to pursue dentistry. Eventually his passion for business led him into accounting at MacEwan where he received his degree.

Soon after, his path took him to Swell Private Wealth where he met Steve Meldrum. With the ability to think critically he was a natural fit in the Swell Team. His focus is in the advanced insurance market to help business owners and professionals take it to the next level. He believes that Swell’s duty to its customers is to provide a high level of attention to detail to every client. Having grown up in a multigenerational professional family, he has gained experience which helps him navigate tax issues that face high net worth families. Rylan stresses the importance of building relationships with clients. Dealing exclusively in the corporate space this allows him to uncover game changing tax moves that make all the difference.

Rylan has been married since 2019. Interestingly, while Rylan does not like to listen to music, he does like listening to podcasts and E-books. In general, Rylan prefers listening more so than reading. Anything political or business related usually peaks Rylan’s interest.

Rylan’s advice for people who have an idea or dream is to just go for it because it’s better to try, even if they fail, instead of just wishing they could.
